1. Preplanning

1.1 Roofing requires substantial preplanning early in the project. Specifically check the following items:

• roof pitch (for selection of sheet profile/s)
• roof selection specified vs. actual required including protection of the underside of sheets when metal soffits
• are exposed or semi exposed. This can affect the warranty and may also affect the selection of the framing in
• semi exposed areas and marine environments.
• expansion joints and materials bridging the joints. (structural steel may be influenced)
• gutter/downpipe designs, size and selection including penetrations in steel/precast etc
• roof penetration locations and flashing systems (support for soakers etc)
• roof access systems
