Article summary

3.1 Pool equipment areas are easily one of the most ignored areas of a building. The size of pool equipment is simply not appreciated by most people. The location is usually misunderstood that the distance from the pool affects the design and “getting a bigger pump” is not always going to work.

3.2 Enclosed rooms require VENTILATION as per the codes due to the chemicals etc. Note this is a confined space when acids and chlorines are present. Confined space signage is required and confirmed spaces registers and associated documentation must be presented to the client on handover.

3.3 Open plant rooms are a noise source – and the noise generated by pool equipment is easily one of the largest complaints received by councils.

3.4 Open plant rooms also expose the equipment to the elements and weather and deteriorate more rapid than enclosed areas/ equipment.
