Article summary

9.1 Where sunscreens or louvers are used as a part of the window system, the standard of construction is to match the window.

9.2 Ensure the window manufacturer is involved in these screens where there is reliance on the window frame for support or bracing of the screen.

9.3 Aluminium louvers coatings used within 1000 of salt water will contain additional thickness consistent with manufacturer's specifications for corrosive environments. Refer to the general issues section above.

9.4 Steel attached screens used within 1000m of salt water will be either hot dip galvanised or stainless steel suitable for sale or alkali areas unless otherwise approved by the team leader.

9.5 All fixings used external of a building will be either hot dip galvanised, stainless steel in all applications or of a Class 5 standard within 1000m of a marine/harsh/heavy industrial application.
