Design Review
By assembling all documentation for the project and registering for document control, the Project Team need to carefully consider what documents have been developed, and if they are suitable for construction, as well as identify what documents need to be produced, by who, by when and what approvals are required.

Development approvals usually require a number of submissions such as:
• sediment and erosion control plans
• stormwater management for final building design
• building reflectivity and colour schemes
• commercial kitchens design
• confirmation of building areas, building height limits
• landscape design
• waste management plans (including truck turn around, garbage rooms size, construction, bin management plan size, type, movement logistics)

Authorities usually require documentation developed/packaged for approval including:
• energy providers require substation designs and incoming mains
• energy/water/gas metering area designs
• energy providers central hot water units plant areas design
• fire brigade access and pump room review

The building methodology needs to be integrated into the designs:
• temporary engineering requirements for bracing/propping building structure for imposed temporary loads
• crane/hoist/satellite concrete pump penetrations and load reactions
• formwork stripping/back propping sequences and loads, associated structural design upgrades required

Hutchies’ Quality and Services Handbooks and Alerts also identify areas of focus in reviewing the design to help determine whether the design is suitable or not.

By clearly identifying what we have and what else we need to produce a compliant, approved, quality product we can confirm a comprehensive design program to manage.

Good designs determine the project’s critical outcomes including program and quality.
