By reviewing the contract, specifications, drawings, finishes schedules, sales documents, manufacturers literature, authority approvals and requirements and any other relevant information and register this information

The object with this register is to drill down deep into the design to control risks. It’s not to create unnecessary work – it’s to ensure the work is correct before we even start.

By developing detailed designs, procuring or producing physical examples of the works affords everyone involved – clients, designers, Hutchies and subcontractors – the opportunity to gain a perspective of the final build rather than just the conceptual design.

Once the products approved, the contract requirement for spares and a sensible view on wastage and spares for potential damage prior to practical completion and defects is taken, a spares register should be submitted and approved by the client.

It’s important to ensure there are sufficient materials ordered to cover all spares requirements from the same batch is an important part of overall quality and dealing with defects if / when they arise.
