4.1 Ensure tree species and size/root-balls etc are coordinated between the pool designer and landscape designer. Install the trees as soon as the shell is cured to allow the trees time to establish in the new location after transplanting (prior to being subjected to pool water splashing etc). Trees must not exceed a 3m mature height within 1.5-2m of the pool shell.
4.2 Spa baths must contain a kill switch within reach of the outlet/skimmer box. This allows persons alone in the spa to hit the switch if their hair or clothing gets caught or sucked into the skimmer/outlet.
4.3 Ensure electrical earthing (grounding) of the pool shell, and conductive structures around pools is completed – slab reinforcement, steel fencing, steel structures such as shade sails etc - this ensures all elements have equal electrical potential or EQUIPOTENTIAL; and bonding (joining equipment together to avoid differences in voltage) – are completed by a licensed electrician.
4.4 Pool fencing must comply with regulations as current at the time of approval (changes regularly).
4.5 Pool signs must be provided by law.
4.6 A pool safety certificate must be provided for pools in Queensland.
4.7 The level of the pool water on podiums must finish 150mm below any habitable areas. All outdoor surrounded pool areas must be drained via an overflow system in addition to any in slab/floor surface drainage system.
4.8 All glazing within 3m of a pool or a spa must be wet glazed (this means silicone sealed at the glazing to prevent water ingress through the window/glazing)
