4. Roof Insulation

4.1 Insulation must be provided to all roof areas with a soffit (at the eaves) or a ceiling below it (inside the building).

4.2 The thickness is dependent on energy efficiency requirements (from the BCA/NCC/NCC) and must be specified by the
building designers and approved prior to installation.

4.3 Make sure insulation is kept clear of the gutter to prevent “wicking/capillary actions” – sucking water into the insulation
and into the ceiling space. The insulation needs air circulation to work correctly.
